Fellowships and Awards
THANKS RICE! I would like to thank the Committee for the Faculty Initiative Fellowship for fully funding the Codex Judas Congress. The generosity of Rice University is making possible the first international conference to be convened March 13-16, 2008. Twenty-five scholars from around the world will be coming to campus to participate, examining for the first time in history the Tchacos Codex. This fourth-century papyrus book contains the now (in)famous Gospel of Judas, as well as three other early Christian books. The conference has several other sponsors including the Houston Museum of Natural Science, the Houston Archaeological Institute of America, the Boniuk Center for the Study and Advancement of Religious Tolerance, and the Rice Department of Religious Studies.
